The project has resulted in the world’s first practical use of Quantum Annealing, which inspired by the laws of quantum physics, has enhanced the state-of-the-art in search techniques to better solve intractable industrial problems. It gains power over other techniques through the ability to maintain simultaneous solutions coupled with quantum tunneling effects, to search the billions of possible permutations for the ideal result. ServicePower is harnessing it, specifically Quantum Annealing, to help businesses optimize their often highly complex field service operations including the movement of people, parts and vehicles.
Key to this advance has been MMU and ServicePower’s innovation to move away from Quantum Computing on hardware, where the costs are substantial, to a virtual software environment, where the power of quantum can be harnessed via the cloud on everyday machines, by any size of organization.
