McLean, VA — October 6, 2025 — ServicePower, a leading provider of field service management solutions, today announced that a global renewable energy company based in the UK that delivers world-class customer service and innovative energy products to nearly 9 million households worldwide, has selected ServicePower’s Vision AI to reduce the number of safety fails on smart meter installations and lower risk of overheating and fire.
“Vision AI is rapidly becoming the catalyst for transformation in industries like telecom and utilities, where precision, scale, and reliability are paramount. As providers deploy millions of smart meters, fiber connections, and grid assets, traditional inspection and validation processes simply can’t keep pace. Automated visual intelligence bridges that gap by embedding real-time quality assurance and compliance checks directly into field workflows. Whether it’s verifying the correct installation of a smart meter, ensuring a technician has completed a fiber splice to standard, or detecting anomalies that could compromise safety, Vision AI is capable of delivering instant, actionable insights without slowing down the job,” said Aly Pinder, Research Vice President, Aftermarket Services Strategies, at IDC.
As the rollout of the smart meter network accelerates, a challenge of ensuring installation safety and accuracy at scale has become more pertinent. Safety risks such as loose connections or incorrect cable sequencing can lead to defects and customer dissatisfaction. Vision AI provides real-time, AI-powered quality control, enabling field technicians to capture potential defects instantly and confirm that every installation meets both customer and company standards before leaving the installation site, thereby reducing rework. The solution includes a mobile application for technicians in the field and a web-based platform for operations and management teams.
“Field service is no longer just about fixing problems; it’s about anticipating them, preventing them, and creating safer, smarter outcomes for customers," said Frank Gelbart, CEO of ServicePower. "The future of field service lies in intelligent automation and AI-driven insights that empower organizations to scale without sacrificing safety or quality. By harnessing technologies like Vision AI, we’re setting the stage for a new era where operational excellence and customer trust go hand in hand. We are very pleased to be seeing strong market adoption and partnerships deepen further as we bring the utilities industry these innovative capabilities."
“Companies embracing these solutions are experiencing measurable improvements in both quality and productivity, turning visual data into a strategic advantage that drives consistent, repeatable excellence across their service operations,” continued Pinder. “The impact is profound: utilities and telcos can accelerate their large-scale rollouts, avoid costly truck rolls, and achieve higher right-first-time rates, all while improving customer trust and regulatory compliance. By turning visual data into a living source of truth, these organizations are not just modernizing service delivery—they are laying the foundation for smarter, more resilient infrastructure that will define the next decade of connected living.”
"Computer vision is the breakthrough technology that turns field data into actionable intelligence in real time," said Ahmed Ghorbal, senior vice president of AI for ServicePower. "With Vision AI, field technicians don’t just complete tasks; they complete them with confidence, precision, and consistency. This innovation reduces risk, accelerates installation timelines, and ensures that customers receive the highest level of service possible."
Vision AI will initially be deployed by more than 1,000 field technicians, supporting the installation of over 40,000 smart meters per month.
